Ireland is such a small island covering just 84421 km2 and with a population of approximately 6 million people (About 1.75 million of these people live in Northern Ireland, with about 4.34 million living in the Republic of Ireland) as of 2009. Known also as the Emerald Isle or the Land of Saints and Scholars the former due to it's mild climate and lush green vegetation and the latter due to the influence this small island has had on the world scene in years gone bye, especially in the spread of Christianity.
